Sea Monsters

Two more illustrations for the first an lasts project- in the 1500s these sea monsters were thought to actually exist. Explorers talked of sea serpents (snakes with horses heads) and the Ziphus (a giant fish with an owls face). Ferdinand Magellan

 Project based on "First and Last". I began looking at world exploration, and became really obsessed with Ferdinand Magellan who was the first person to circumnavigate the world. The story of the circumnavigation is extraordinary, so i definitely recommend reading into it if you have the time...
The bottom two are scans from the final peice, its pretty big so i'll photograph it soon so you can see it in all its glory haha!
